I grew up with quirky parents. Translation: My parents were weird. I came to realize that I had to take a leap of faith that they knew what was best for all of us. It was going to take an awful lot of blind love to survive this bizarre turn of events. My dad said, “We’re moving” My wise guy sister said, “Of course we are Dad, we’re always moving, it’s part of the rotation of the earth.”
That statement did nothing to detract from his good mood. I wish I had his optimism. It’s not easy to keep your spirits up when you parents explain that your new home is an igloo. I am aware that this type of structure had served as suitable housing for decades, but it was going to be difficult to adjust. I knew I shouldn’t ask about Wi-Fi, but was there going to be a place for my pitching machines?
